Gedeon Richter Publishes Fluomizin Instructions

Gedeon Richter Plc., headquartered in Budapest, has made available detailed instructions for its vaginal tablet medication, Fluomizin. The active ingredient, dequalinium chloride, is an antimicrobial agent with a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi.

The medication is indicated for vaginal sanitation before gynecological surgeries and childbirth, and for the treatment of trichomoniasis. The drug is approved for use throughout pregnancy and lactation but is advised against use before the onset of sexual activity.

Treatment typically involves a six-day course, with one vaginal tablet inserted deeply into the vagina each night. Completing the full course is highlighted as crucial to prevent recurrence. Treatment should be paused during menstruation and resumed afterward.

Rare instances of local irritation, such as itching or burning, have been reported, though these symptoms may also be associated with the infection itself. The company notes that Fluomizin is incompatible with soap and other anionic surfactants.
