Budapest – Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc. has announced new approved indications for its Gynoflor E product on the Russian market. The medication is now designated for the restoration of normal vaginal microflora following local or systemic use of antibiotics or other antimicrobial agents.

Gynoflor E is a combination product containing live lactobacillus bacteria and estriol. The treatment aims to help restore the natural acidity and healthy bacterial environment within the vagina, counteracting the overgrowth of pathogenic microorganisms. Estriol, a short-acting estrogen, provides a trophic effect on the vaginal epithelium, supporting the function of lactobacilli without significant systemic absorption.

In addition to restoring bacterial balance, Gynoflor E is also indicated for the management of estrogen-dependent atrophic vaginitis in postmenopausal women. This condition can manifest with symptoms such as itching, dryness, and painful intercourse. The product can be used as part of hormone replacement therapy or as a standalone treatment.

The expansion of Gynoflor E's approved uses in Russia has been documented in updated product instructions approved by the Russian Ministry of Health. The vaginal tablets are administered internally, and patients should consult healthcare providers for proper dosage and application.
