Gedeon Richter's Romanian Subsidiary Establishment History
Gedeon Richter Plc. acquired the Romanian pharmaceutical manufacturer Armedica in 1998, leading to its modernization and achievement of international quality standards.

Gedeon Richter Plc.'s Romanian subsidiary, Gedeon Richter România Ltd., traces its origins back to 1985 with the founding of pharmaceutical manufacturer Armedica and the start of its facility construction. Actual manufacturing commenced in 1989, producing solid and semi-solid dosage forms.
Following its acquisition by Richter Gedeon Plc. in 1998, the company's primary objective became compliance with international standards, including obtaining a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Certificate, and developing marketing activities suitable for an emerging market. Significant logistical and financial investments were allocated to these efforts.
The modernization process concluded in 2001 with the awarding of its GMP certificate. The company subsequently received recognition and quality certificates according to GMP norms from the Hungarian pharmaceutical authority, OGYI.
In 2005, Gedeon Richter România further enhanced its technical support for product development by establishing a state-of-the-art laboratory. This facility, along with its Bioequivalence Laboratory and testing laboratory, forms a comprehensive system to ensure the quality of the product development process.
