Geely Unveils AI Tech to Cut EV Charging Time
Chinese automaker Geely has introduced new AI-powered charging technology designed to significantly reduce electric vehicle charging times. The system can charge a battery from 10% to 70% in under five minutes.
Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Holdings has unveiled new AI-powered technology aimed at accelerating electric vehicle (EV) charging.
The company stated that the new system can charge a vehicle's battery from 10% to 70% in just four minutes and 30 seconds. A full charge to 97% takes under nine minutes. Geely indicated this technology will debut with its latest generation of smart charging stations, boasting a peak charging power of 2,250 kilowatts.
This development comes as China's automotive sector races to cut charging durations amid softening demand and intensifying competition. Geely's announcement positions the company against BYD, which earlier this year announced its own rapid charging technology.
Tests of the technology were conducted on Geely's Zeekr 001 sedan and Lynk & Co 10 hybrid. These rapid charging capabilities could significantly enhance the EV ownership experience and address a key consumer concern.
