Geke Microelectronics, a Chinese semiconductor manufacturer, announced on Thursday that it has secured an order from a globally recognized mobile phone brand. The company will supply 50-megapixel image sensors with a 0.64-micrometer pixel size. The initial order is valued at approximately 57 million yuan (around $7.9 million USD).

The supplied image sensor is developed on the company's GalaxyCell® 2.0 process platform. It is designed to achieve high resolution, wide dynamic range, and low noise imaging. With a 1/2.8-inch optical size, the sensor can be flexibly adapted for various mobile camera applications, including main, ultra-wide, telephoto, and front-facing cameras.

Geke Microelectronics stated that this order signifies a significant breakthrough for domestic CMOS image sensor products, having met the stringent technical requirements and procurement standards set by the international brand for its high-end products.

Throughout the current year, Geke Microelectronics has seen increasing shipments of its 50-megapixel image sensors. As of July 24, the company has cumulatively shipped over 120 million units of 50-megapixel sensors across various specifications, which are utilized in the front and rear cameras of numerous smartphone models from multiple brands.
