Gemtek, Qualcomm, and gFiber Launch AI-Native Wi-Fi 8 Gateway

Gemtek Technology is showcasing an AI-native Wi-Fi 8 broadband gateway, a product developed in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies and gFiber. The collaboration aims to integrate advanced connectivity and edge artificial intelligence into home broadband devices.

Built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ NPro A8 Elite Platform, the gateway is engineered by Gemtek and powered by intelligent software from its subsidiary, Genix Networks. gFiber will serve as the initial service provider for the device. This combination of Wi-Fi 8 connectivity, edge AI processing, and smart software is designed to deliver a more responsive broadband experience.

The gateway is positioned as a central hub for home internet and a local platform for AI applications. It is intended to support network optimization, device management, enhanced security, and proactive system maintenance. Users are expected to interact with their home network through natural language voice commands, with local processing aimed at improving privacy and reducing reliance on cloud services.

Genix software facilitates the connection between the gateway, connected devices, and the network via an AI-driven interface. Voice-controlled application integration allows users to query device performance and security status, and to take relevant actions. The companies anticipate commercial deployment of the gateway in 2027.

Gemtek envisions the customer premises equipment (CPE) as an aesthetically pleasing centerpiece for the living room. The collaboration leverages Qualcomm's connectivity and AI platform technologies, Gemtek's hardware and system integration expertise, and gFiber's focus on the subscriber experience. This integrated approach aims to redefine the broadband service model from the platform to the end-user.
