Gen Launches Tool for Transparency in AI Data Handling

Technology company Gen has launched a beta version of its AI Data Checker tool, aiming to increase transparency in how AI services handle user data. The company reports that nearly one-third of desktop users are now interacting with AI applications and agents for various tasks.

The new tool is part of Gen's Agent Trust Hub, a suite of services intended to improve user understanding and control over AI agents. AI Data Checker allows users to see how different AI services collect and use personal information, such as email addresses or usernames.

The tool also scans non-AI accounts where users may have shared information. It identifies what data a service collects, whether that data is used for training AI models, how long it is retained, and what privacy controls are available. This initiative aims to simplify the understanding of complex privacy policies and AI data practices.

Gen stated that as AI takes on more personal tasks, the need to understand associated data privacy concerns grows. The company also offers other protective measures, including Norton AI Agent Protection and Deepfake Detection, to safeguard users from AI-related risks.

The AI Data Checker is available online, where users can also sign up for early access to future Gen AI tools. Gen's portfolio includes consumer brands like Norton and Avast, focused on digital security and financial freedom.
