Gen X Most Comfortable With AI, Pew Research Finds
A new survey from the Pew Research Center reveals growing concern among Americans about AI's impact on jobs, particularly among younger generations. Gen X shows the highest comfort level with the technology.

Americans, particularly younger generations, are increasingly worried about artificial intelligence and its potential to affect jobs, according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center conducted in June. The findings indicate a significant rise in skepticism towards AI.
Concern about AI has notably increased among adults under 30. For the first time since the survey began in 2021, a majority of this demographic (55%) now state they are "more concerned than excited" about AI, mirroring a broader societal apprehension.
However, the generation exhibiting the most comfort with AI appears to be Gen X, aged 50 to 61. This age group was the only one where a majority did not express being "more concerned than excited" about AI's proliferation.
Overall, more than half of Americans (52%) are "more concerned than excited" about the increased use of AI in everyday life, a rise from 37% five years ago. Only 9% reported being "more excited than concerned."
Job loss remains a primary concern, with 71% of adults believing AI will lead to fewer jobs in the U.S. over the next two decades, up from 64% in 2024. Younger adults share this concern at the same rate as those aged 30 to 64.
