Gen Z Consumer Behaviour Transforms Beauty Market
Young consumers, driven by ethical values and social media engagement, are significantly reshaping the beauty industry. International Logistics Group (ILG) analyzes these shifts.

The behaviour of Generation Z consumers is fundamentally altering the beauty market. This demographic, which already represents a substantial portion of the global population and is projected to grow, increasingly prioritizes ethical practices, sustainability, and social media influence in their purchasing decisions.
International Logistics Group (ILG) highlights how Gen Z's values, such as environmental consciousness and social responsibility, guide their choices. Research indicates that over 46% of Gen Z consumers are willing to pay a premium for sustainable products. This trend necessitates that beauty brands re-evaluate their entire supply chains and invest in more eco-friendly methods, from packaging to production.
The importance of social responsibility and inclusivity is also paramount. Reports suggest a significant percentage of Gen Z consumers will cease using a brand if it is not inclusive or socially responsible. Brands must focus on product diversity, ethical sourcing (e.g., cruelty-free), and gender-neutral options to meet the generation's expectations.
Simultaneously, Gen Z has not abandoned physical retail; rather, they have elevated expectations for it. While social media serves as a key discovery channel, 41% of Gen Z consumers still consider brick-and-mortar stores important for learning about and purchasing beauty products. Brands, therefore, need to develop omnichannel strategies that seamlessly integrate online and physical experiences, prioritizing customer engagement across all touchpoints.
