Gen Z faces barriers in automated recruitment landscape

Inc. Magazine reports that many job seekers in Generation Z are struggling to gain traction in an increasingly automated hiring landscape. Candidates frequently report that their applications are filtered out by AI software before ever reaching a human recruiter, leading to widespread feelings of disconnect from the labor market.

Compounding these difficulties is the prevalence of "ghost jobs," which are listings for positions that companies have no immediate intention of filling. This practice creates false hope and contributes to a bleak sentiment among young job seekers. According to data from the public opinion research firm SSRS, 62 percent of Gen Z respondents view the current job market as poor, significantly higher than the 47 percent reported by the general population.

HR experts note that the reliance on AI-driven screening and virtual interview platforms has introduced a cold, impersonal element to job hunting. Applicants described in reports often feel that they are communicating with non-responsive systems rather than potential employers. As this ecosystem becomes more entrenched, many express frustration over the inability to secure meaningful interaction with hiring managers.
