General Dynamics reports surge in defense orders during third quarter
General Dynamics secured $93.8 billion in new defense orders during the third quarter, bringing its total backlog to $220.3 billion.

Defense contractor General Dynamics reported a 16% increase in third-quarter profit to $1.23 billion, with revenue reaching $14.57 billion. Both figures exceeded market expectations. The company generated $1.7 billion in cash flow from operations during the period.
The surge in orders was largely attributed to the Marine Systems segment, which saw significant activity for Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines, complemented by $5 billion in new aerospace contracts. At the end of the quarter, the company’s total backlog stood at $220.3 billion, with a total potential contract value reaching $270.7 billion.
CEO Phebe Novakovic attributed the performance to growth across all four of the company's business segments. She stated that the substantial backlog, combined with capital investments made over the past decade, positions the company to sustain its operational momentum.
