Genoa Port Orders Retrofit for Konecranes RTG Cranes

Genoa, Italy – Medcenter Container Terminal (MCT) in Genoa has contracted Konecranes for a significant upgrade of three of its Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) container cranes.

The retrofit package includes Konecranes' latest safety features, an upgraded drive system aimed at improving energy efficiency, and digital solutions for monitoring and optimizing crane performance. The objective is to boost operational efficiency and enhance safety within the terminal.

Konecranes will also provide the upgrades to SECH S.p.A., another port operator in Genoa, reflecting the company's established presence in the Italian market. This order strengthens Konecranes' position as a supplier of port equipment in the region.

The upgrade aims to extend the service life of the existing cranes and ensure they meet future operational demands, aligning with a broader trend in the port industry towards modernizing existing assets rather than solely relying on new acquisitions.
