Geodesic Capital, an independent venture capital firm focused on growth-stage technology companies, has announced the closing of its first fund, Geodesic Capital Fund I, with a total of $335 million.
The firm was founded by John V. Roos, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, and Ashvin Bachireddy, formerly a growth-stage partner at Andreessen Horowitz. Mitsubishi Corporation, a Japanese trading and investment company, served as the anchor investor.

"We intend to help the world's most transformative technology companies enter the Japanese market and, at the same time, help Japan's most iconic companies establish a window into Silicon Valley innovation."
Ashvin Bachireddy stated that Geodesic Capital was founded to be the preferred funding partner for growth-stage technology companies. "The best entrepreneurs are focused on building a global business. Our team's network and experience will help our portfolio companies access Japan and Asia, the world's largest and fastest-growing market," he added.
Geodesic Capital has already made several investments, including software company Tanium, mobile application Snapchat, content delivery network (CDN) platform Instart Logic, and 21 Inc., which sells Bitcoin computers.
