Georgia Power is emphasizing its available programs and resources to help customers manage energy costs and reduce consumption as cooler weather approaches.

Georgia Power is directing customers to its various assistance programs and energy-saving resources to help manage utility costs and reduce consumption as cooler temperatures arrive. The utility is highlighting these offerings during Energy Efficiency Month in October.
The company provides a range of support options, including payment plans and energy efficiency initiatives. These encompass income-qualified assistance, free home energy improvements, rebates, and online tools for monitoring usage. Georgia Power has committed to maintaining stable and predictable electricity rates through at least 2028, with further savings anticipated from 2029 onward due to its growth management strategy.
Tips for the cooler months promoted by Georgia Power include checking insulation and sealing leaks, setting thermostats around 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and utilizing natural sunlight by opening blinds during the day. The company also advises closing blinds at night to reduce heat loss.
Resources available to customers include a free in-home energy audit to identify potential improvements, and the Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP), which offers rebates of up to $1,850 for qualifying upgrades like insulation and smart thermostats. The "My Power Usage" tool allows customers to track and manage their energy consumption on an hourly, daily, and monthly basis.
