GEOSAT Becomes First European Partner in SDG Data Alliance

Earth observation satellite operator GEOSAT has become the first European company to join the SDG Data Alliance, a coalition focused on mobilizing data to accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The partnership agreement with the PVBLIC Foundation, which convenes the Data Alliance, was signed in New York during the 81st UN General Assembly. GEOSAT's membership places it among a select group of partners working with the UN and international collaborators to deliver very high-resolution satellite imagery and data to over 3,000 islands across nearly 40 island nations.

Through the Data Alliance, GEOSAT will supply imagery and data that will be transformed into actionable intelligence to support decision-making. This initiative aims to provide island nations with capabilities for land management, agriculture, forestry, coastal monitoring, and emergency response, which many could not achieve independently.

GEOSAT brings its operational experience as an established European operator, recognized by the European Commission and Copernicus. The company has previously delivered, for instance, a full European coverage known as VHR 24 in partnership with Airbus. GEOSAT has already commenced work on initial pilot projects with the Data Alliance, building on previous support for initiatives like the Maldives Space Research Organisation.
