GEOSAT becomes first European partner in the SDG Data Alliance

GEOSAT, an Earth Observation satellite operator, has become the first European company to join the SDG Data Alliance. This coalition aims to utilize data to accelerate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The partnership agreement was signed in New York during the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly. GEOSAT's membership places it among a group of partners working with the UN and international bodies to deliver Very High Resolution (VHR) satellite imagery and data to over 3,000 islands across nearly 40 SIDS nations.

Through the Data Alliance, national and regional entities will be identified to lead implementation. GEOSAT will supply the imagery, and together with other partners, transform it into actionable intelligence for better decision-making. This can provide island nations with capabilities in areas such as land management, agriculture, forestry, coastal monitoring, and emergency response.

GEOSAT brings operational experience as an established European operator, recognized by the European Commission and Copernicus. The company provides thousands of images annually for critical scenarios and contributes to the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters. GEOSAT has previously supported initiatives like the launch of the Maldives Space Research Organisation (MSRO).
