Geotab data ranks Berlin as safest European capital for driver behavior
A study by telematics provider Geotab indicates that Berlin reports the lowest frequency of sudden driving maneuvers among major European capitals.

Berlin recorded 225 abnormal driving events per 1,000 trips, according to a recent analysis of urban traffic data conducted by Geotab. This figure places the German capital significantly ahead of other major European cities regarding driving stability.
In comparison, Madrid and Paris reported 1,088 and 1,191 events respectively, highlighting a marked discrepancy in vehicle handling patterns across metropolitan areas. The study defines these incidents as occurrences of harsh acceleration, sudden braking, and sharp cornering.
The findings provide data on how urban infrastructure and traffic management influence driver behavior. By quantifying these metrics, Geotab aims to provide insights into road safety levels and the impact of local driving environments on fleet and private vehicle operations.
