German Camping Remains Affordable Compared to European Averages

A 2026 price analysis indicates that camping holidays in Germany continue to be an affordable option compared to European price levels. During the summer high season, a family pays an average of €41 per night. In the cheapest federal state, Thuringia, the price is only €34 per night.
The German price is well below the European average of €49 per night. Only Norway (€38) and Sweden (€40) are cheaper. Camping prices in Germany increased by seven percent compared to the previous year, aligning with the European average.
Thuringia was Germany's least expensive federal state at an average of €34, while Brandenburg was the most expensive at €45 per night. Prices remained moderate even in popular tourist regions like Bavaria (€42).
Particularly attractive is Germany's offering in the luxury segment. Five-star campsites are cheaper in Germany than in any other surveyed country, with an average cost of €57. This is significantly less than in popular destinations like Spain (€98) or Croatia (€73).
Furthermore, coastal campsites in Germany see only about a one percent price increase compared to inland sites. This contrasts sharply with other European countries where coastal premiums can reach up to 49 percent. German camping prices also show less seasonal fluctuation compared to many other European nations.
