German Defense Minister Tests LMIS AG's AI Quality Control

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited the Coppenrath INNOVATION CENTRE in Osnabrück yesterday. During the visit, software company LMIS AG demonstrated its proprietary AI software designed to automate optical quality inspection in manufacturing.

Pistorius personally tested the system by placing two pairs of pliers from tool manufacturer KNIPEX into a demonstrator unit: one flawless pair and one with defects. LMIS AG's AI analyzed image data, identifying the defective pair in fractions of a second by visually marking it. The minister expressed his impression of the system's speed and inquired about its application in ongoing production.

According to LMIS AG, their AI solution learns exclusively from flawless components, eliminating the need for extensive error databases and complex training. The system reportedly distinguishes genuine manufacturing defects from natural material variations, achieving a 98.5 percent accuracy rate in identifying correct parts during tests. Integration into production lines requires reproducible imaging conditions and a compatible software environment.

LMIS AG offers a portable demonstrator for manufacturing companies, enabling on-site demonstrations of the software's capabilities. The company states this effectively illustrates how AI can enhance production quality control processes.
