German Environmental Aid Stops Red Bull's Greenwashing
Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) has reached an agreement with Red Bull, requiring the company to cease using the misleading "net zero emissions by 2040" claim.

Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) has secured a legal commitment from Red Bull, compelling the company to discontinue its advertising claim of "net zero emissions by 2040." The environmental organization had accused Red Bull of consumer deception, citing the vagueness of this future pledge and the company's continued reliance on non-eco-friendly single-use cans.
According to DUH, Red Bull failed to provide clear, verifiable measures for achieving its stated climate goals. The organization also criticized Red Bull's focus on single-use aluminum cans, particularly its plans for a new can production facility in Brandenburg, arguing this contradicts genuine environmental protection efforts.
DUH is urging Red Bull to transition towards sustainable, reusable beverage packaging, aligning with EU mandates for reusable quotas. The group highlights that aluminum cans are among the most climate-damaging beverage containers due to high energy consumption in production and recycling, as well as the use of virgin materials.
