German Government Approves Data Center Strategy for Technological Sovereignty
The CDU/CSU parliamentary group has commented on the new national data center strategy. The group emphasizes that technological sovereignty is crucial for the country's future.

Berlin – The German government has approved a new national data center strategy. Ralph Brinkhaus, spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group's working group on digitalization and state modernization, stated that technological sovereignty is decisive for the country's future.
"Technological sovereignty will essentially decide our future," Brinkhaus said. He described the strategy as an architectural plan that can move Germany forward geopolitically. However, Brinkhaus stressed that paper alone is not enough; rapid and consistent implementation is now necessary.
The CDU/CSU group believes the federal government is obligated to ensure the strategy's execution. The group asserts that Germany must secure its independence through its critical digital infrastructure.
The strategy is expected to support domestic data center construction and operation, reducing reliance on foreign providers and enhancing Germany's ability to manage its own digital data. The aim is to improve data security and digital autonomy within Europe.
