The coordination council, representing German federal and state transport authorities, has finalized the price increase for the nationwide Deutschlandticket. Beginning January 1, 2027, the monthly subscription will cost 66.80 euros, marking a 3.80-euro increase from the current rate of 63 euros.

The price adjustment follows an index-based model adopted by state transport ministers earlier this year. This framework ties future pricing to fluctuations in labor, energy, and general operating costs. Analysts estimated this would result in a 6.1 percent price hike to maintain the financial viability of the public transit scheme.

First introduced in May 2023, the subscription has seen steady price growth. The initial 49-euro monthly rate rose to 58 euros in 2025 and 63 euros in 2026. The German government has pledged multi-billion euro funding to support the initiative through 2029. The ticket remains valid for use across local buses, trams, subways, and regional train services nationwide for over 14 million subscribers.
