Germany's Isar Aerospace Achieves First Successful Rocket Orbit Insertion

German space startup Isar Aerospace successfully launched its "Spectrum" rocket from the Andøya Spaceport in Norway on Saturday, local time.

This launch represents a significant milestone for Europe's commercial space industry, as "Spectrum" is the first commercial rocket launched from mainland Europe to successfully reach orbit. The company had previously experienced a setback when its first rocket launch in March 2025 disintegrated shortly after liftoff.

Norway's Minister of Industry and Trade, Cecilie Myrseth, described the successful launch as a "major breakthrough for Europe's commercial space sector," promising improved access to space. The "Spectrum" rocket is designed to carry small to medium-sized payloads.

This flight carried five small satellites and one technology experiment. Isar Aerospace previously announced securing approximately 200 million euros in funding from the European Space Agency (ESA) for the development of new rockets and expansion of launch infrastructure.
