Germany's Most Expensive Rental Apartments in 2023 Cost Up to €28,500 Monthly
A new ranking by immowelt reveals that Germany's priciest rental apartments in 2023 reached monthly cold rents of up to €28,500, with Berlin featuring most prominently among the top 10.

The most expensive rental apartments in Germany in 2023 commanded monthly cold rents of up to €28,500, according to a ranking by real estate portal immowelt. The highest priced apartment was located in Berlin-Mitte, with other luxury properties in the capital also dominating the top 10 list.
Berlin accounted for six out of the ten most expensive rental listings appearing on immowelt.de between January and November 2023. The highest-priced listing was a 295-square-meter luxury apartment in Mitte, charging €28,500 per month for a furnished unit with views of the Berlin City Palace. This equates to an annual rent of €342,000.
The largest apartment featured in the ranking was also in Berlin-Mitte: a 706-square-meter penthouse with seven rooms and a roof terrace, available for €17,000 per month. Other high-end rentals in Berlin included properties in Prenzlauer Berg (€16,500), Tiergarten (€14,900), Mitte (€12,000), and Schmargendorf (€10,500).
Other major German cities also saw luxury rentals reach significant price points. In Cologne, a 260-square-meter penthouse in the Altstadt-Süd district was listed for €22,000 per month. Munich featured a 299-square-meter apartment near the English Garden for €13,100 per month, while Hamburg had two listings in the top 10: a 320-square-meter penthouse in HafenCity for €11,500 and a 479-square-meter property in Harvestehude for €10,800. The ranking is based on listings from January to November 2023 that received significant interest.
