Germany's WIN Initiative Secures €2.64 Billion for Growth and Innovation
The German "Wachstums- und Innovationskapital für Deutschland" (WIN) initiative has reported significant progress, with participating companies and stakeholders committing €2.64 billion for investments in young, innovative German firms by the end of last year.

Launched in September 2024, the WIN initiative, a collaborative effort by the German government, KfW, and numerous companies and associations, aims to bolster growth and innovation capital in Germany. A recent report indicates that participants had committed €2.64 billion to the market by the end of 2025. These funds are designated for investments in young, innovative companies, channeled through direct equity stakes, venture capital funds, or fund-of-funds. The initiative has a broader target of €12 billion in commitments by 2030. KfW is coordinating the WIN initiative on behalf of the Federal Government. The core of the WIN initiative is a ten-point action plan designed to improve the framework conditions for startups in Germany. According to the report, over half of these measures are either implemented or in the process of being carried out. The initiative also emphasizes collaboration, having facilitated the establishment of "startup factories" at universities in partnership with private financiers. Furthermore, steps are being taken to finance "first-of-a-kind" (FOAK) investments, supporting the scaling of novel industrial processes and technologies.
