Gigabyte and Castrol Validate Coolant Mixing for Server Cooling

GIGABYTE Technology and Castrol have jointly validated the Castrol ON DLC PG25 coolant for safe mixing with other commercial propylene glycol-based fluids. The collaboration focuses on ensuring the reliability of GIGABYTE's liquid-cooled solutions, such as the G4L3/G4L4 servers and GIGAPOD systems.

Tests demonstrated that Castrol ON DLC PG25 mixed completely without phase separation or detrimental chemical changes, even at 50:50 mixing ratios. This is significant in data centers where coolant mixing can occur during maintenance or refilling. Compatibility ensures that system performance is not compromised and downtime is avoided.

The coolant's compatibility with various metallic and non-metallic materials was tested according to international ASTM standards. Results showed excellent material compatibility, including minimal to no weight change for copper, brass, and steel-based components, which prevents corrosion and extends the lifespan of cooling components.

Three-month field trials in GIGABYTE's closed cooling loops confirmed the fluids' stability and performance even under demanding conditions. These validations cover a wide range of GIGABYTE's liquid-cooled solutions, including future AI infrastructures that require efficient thermal management.
