Gigabyte Introduces Picture Enhancements for OLED Monitors

Gigabyte Technology has introduced new picture enhancement technologies for its OLED monitors, designed to improve the quality of both High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content. The company has added features like HyperNits to boost brightness and preserve detail in HDR images, alongside AI Picture Mode, which automatically adjusts display settings based on content type.

The HyperNits feature addresses a common challenge with OLED monitors where HDR content can appear too dark in peak brightness modes. It uses an algorithm to reshape the Electro-Optical Transfer (EOTF) curve, increasing brightness by up to 30% while retaining critical highlight detail. Users can select between "High" or "Medium" settings for the brightness boost.

AI Picture Mode, on the other hand, automatically recognizes the type of content being viewed by the user โ€“ whether it's a movie, game, or document โ€“ and adjusts the display settings accordingly. This includes features such as a reader mode to reduce eye strain, optimized settings for movies, and an AI Black Equalizer for FPS gamers that enhances visibility in dark game scenes.

Gigabyte states that these new picture enhancements provide deeper contrast, increased clarity, and a more immersive viewing experience. The technologies are available on the company's latest OLED monitor offerings.
