Girls Inc. and Rhonda Walker Foundation Affiliate to Expand Detroit Girls' Opportunities
Two organizations have joined forces to expand programming and resources for middle school girls in Metro Detroit, aiming to increase support during critical developmental years.

Girls Inc. and the Rhonda Walker Foundation (RWF) announced an affiliation that combines Girls Inc.'s national resources and research-informed programming with RWF's established programs and impact in preparing Detroit girls for college and careers.
The affiliation establishes Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Detroit at the Rhonda Walker Foundation, expanding RWF's programming and capacity to reach more girls in grades 3–8. RWF's Empowering Her Success Academy will transition to Girls Inc. programming, offering expanded opportunities during crucial developmental years.
The strategic alliance reflects the priorities of both organizations. Girls Inc. sought to expand into Detroit through an organization with proven local programs, while RWF aimed to increase its capacity and resources to better serve girls.
For Metro Detroit girls, this collaboration enhances access to programs during middle school, a period when confidence can falter and academic engagement may be affected by social pressures. The expanded initiative aims to equip more girls with the skills, confidence, and supportive relationships needed for academic, social, and personal growth.
