Giti Tire Equipped EV Completes 92-Country World Tour, Setting New Record
A Volkswagen ID.Buzz, fitted with Giti Tire's GitiSynergy H2, has completed a 99,800km, 92-country global tour, setting a new world record for a continuous electric vehicle expedition.
Giti Tire's GitiSynergy H2 tires have played a role in a new world record set by a Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric vehicle. The car, equipped with these tires, successfully navigated 99,800 kilometers through 92 countries in a continuous global tour.
The expedition, led by Rainer Zietlow in partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commenced in Hannover, Germany, on July 1, 2025. Over 16 months, the journey traversed Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, North and South America, and the Middle East, concluding at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover on September 14, 2026.
Giti Tire supplied two sets of GitiSynergy H2 tires for the tour, which were changed at the halfway point. Post-inspection indicated over half of the tread depth remained. These tires, which meet the Original Equipment (OE) specification for the VW ID.Buzz, are designed with reduced rolling resistance to enhance EV range, estimated at around 400 kilometers per charge, while maintaining safety features for wet and dry conditions.
The record was officially recognized at the IAA Transportation event. Giti Tire also holds a speed record for its GitiSport e.GTR2 Pro tires, used on the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, which achieved 496.22 km/h.
