GK Software: Loyalty Program Intelligence Underutilized in Stores
According to GK Software SE, the full potential of retail loyalty programs is not being leveraged in-store, despite available customer data and insights.

The intelligence and data gathered by retail loyalty programs are often not fully utilized during in-store transactions, even when customer insights are available. An analysis by GK Software SE suggests that while many retailers collect valuable customer data, this information is not translated into real-time action at the point of sale. When a customer scans their card, the system credits points and applies predefined rules but cannot react to what the customer is doing at that moment.
GK Software's solution, GK Engage, aims to address this gap. The goal is to empower stores to deploy the full intelligence of their loyalty program at the critical moment of transaction. This could enable more personalized offers and experiences for customers precisely when they are most impactful.
The core challenge is not a lack of data; most retailers possess extensive customer information. Instead, the processes designed to use this data were not built for real-time, in-store interactions. Many personalization approaches in loyalty are based on batch processing, with decisions made at intervals of hours or days.
While batch processing works well for emails or push notifications intended to influence behavior before a visit, it's ill-suited for the physical retail environment where customers make purchasing decisions in real-time. The return on investment for loyalty personalization is significant, with 83% of operators reporting positive returns, but much of this value is currently generated through non-store channels. GK Software seeks to bring this value back into the store transaction.
