Glasfaser-Internet.info: Contract-free fiber connections rare in Germany
According to Glasfaser-Internet.info, contract-free fiber optic internet plans are practically non-existent in Germany. Shorter contract durations are presented as an alternative.

The German information portal Glasfaser-Internet.info reports that obtaining fiber optic internet connections without a contract is virtually impossible in the current German market.
Despite the rapid expansion of "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) technology across Germany, which offers speeds potentially reaching 2000 Mbit/s and beyond, consumers seeking flexibility are mostly out of luck. Prepaid-style plans, common in mobile telephony, are not available for fixed-line internet services, including DSL, cable, and fiber.
Deutsche Telekom operates Germany's largest fiber network and aims for near-universal household coverage by 2030. However, this network expansion has not yet translated into contract-free options for consumers.
As a compromise, Glasfaser-Internet.info highlights options with shorter contract commitments. While fully contract-free plans are unavailable, some providers offer tariffs with minimum terms of just one or three months, providing a degree of flexibility compared to standard 24-month agreements.
