Glendale Opens 340 Affordable Apartments for Seniors and Families

Glendale, California – September 23, 2026 – A new 340-unit affordable housing community, Pioneer Village, has officially opened its doors in Glendale, California. The development, a collaboration between nonprofit developers National CORE and Linc Housing, along with the City of Glendale and various public and private partners, aims to provide housing for seniors and families.
Located at 515 Pioneer Drive, Pioneer Village consists of three five-story buildings. The community offers 92 apartments designated for low-income seniors aged 62 and older, and 245 apartments for families. Three units are reserved for on-site staff. The homes are intended for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income.
The development includes over 5,800 square feet of indoor community space, featuring common rooms, kitchens, computer labs, and a gym. Outdoor amenities include playgrounds, community gardens, barbecue areas, and rooftop decks. The buildings are designed to meet LEED Gold standards and feature a subterranean parking garage with electric vehicle-ready spaces.
Construction began in January 2023 and was completed in July 2026, with residents starting to move in during June 2026. The project received over 7,500 applications, indicating significant demand. Funding for Pioneer Village was sourced from a variety of public and private entities, including city funds and tax credits.
