Glint CEO Franc Gray has provided CB Insights with an overview of the company's perspective on the South African solar energy market, highlighting its substantial growth potential.
According to Gray, South Africa has approximately 2.1 million homes suitable for solar adoption, representing a market valued at around 300 billion rand, or just over $17 billion. However, the current market penetration stands at only 7%, indicating that a significant portion of this market remains unaddressed.
While Glint currently targets owner-occupied homes, the broader market opportunity extends to 5.4 million households. A majority of these are occupied by tenants, introducing a different dynamic to the market landscape.
