Global AI Glasses Shipments Surge 263% in H1 2026
Global shipments of AI-enabled glasses increased by 263% year-over-year in the first half of 2026. The majority of these shipments were for display-less models.
Global shipments of AI-enabled glasses experienced a significant year-over-year increase of 263% in the first half of 2026, according to Counterpoint Research. This surge indicates substantial growth in the emerging AI eyewear market.
Display-less AI glasses constituted the vast majority of shipments, accounting for 96% of the total. Shipments in this category grew by 258% year-over-year. Meta remains the dominant player in the display-less segment, holding a 94% market share, and reported a 260% increase in sales.
In contrast, Augmented Reality (AR) AI glasses saw an even steeper rise in shipments, with a 449% year-over-year increase. Chinese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are leading the commercialization efforts in this area. China has emerged as the largest market for AR AI glasses, capturing 45% of shipments, surpassing the United States at 41%.
Despite the rapid growth, analysts caution that future development may face uncertainties. Factors such as rising prices of semiconductor components, including memory chips, and increasing public concerns about privacy issues related to AI glasses could impact the market's trajectory.
