Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation Partners with Spear Bio for Alzheimer's Study

The Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation (GAP) announced a strategic collaboration with Spear Bio for its Bio-Hermes-002 study. The partnership aims to enhance the prediction, detection, and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias through new biomarkers.

Spear Bio, a biotechnology company specializing in ultrasensitive immunoassay technology, will contribute its SPEAR UltraDetect™ assay platform to the observational study. Bio-Hermes-002 compares blood-based and digital biomarkers, imaging, and clinical data across diverse populations to identify early signs of Alzheimer's pathology, such as amyloid and tau buildup.

GAP President John Dwyer stated that Spear Bio's technology aligns with the foundation's goal of accelerating early-stage disease diagnostics and monitoring. "By advancing biomarker detection, we hope to accelerate meaningful progress for individuals and families affected by these conditions," Dwyer said.

Data from the Bio-Hermes-002 study will be hosted on the AD Workbench, a secure data-sharing platform managed by the Gates Ventures Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative. Spear Bio joins other key industry partners in the study, including Biogen, Eli Lilly and Company, IXICO, and Roche.
