Global Consumer Confidence Declines in April 2026, Ipsos Reports
The Ipsos Global Consumer Confidence Index for April 2026 indicates a worldwide decrease in consumer sentiment. Numerous countries experienced significant drops in their indices on both monthly and yearly bases.

Global consumer confidence saw a downturn in April 2026, according to the Ipsos Global Consumer Confidence Index report. The global index fell to 46.7 points, with many countries, including major economies, registering significant decreases in their short-term and long-term outlooks.
On a country-specific level, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand experienced the most substantial monthly declines. Consumer expectations in these nations weakened considerably compared to March 2026. Large economies such as the United States, Canada, and Germany also saw their confidence levels contract.
The year-over-year comparison offers little respite. Singapore, Thailand, and the Netherlands recorded the steepest drops when compared to April 2025. Although a few countries, including Colombia and Hungary, showed gains, the overall trend remained downward.
The report is based on the Global Advisor survey across 30 countries, offering insights into both global trends and individual national performances. Methodological shifts in some countries, such as India, occurred during the reporting period, which may affect the comparability of findings.
