From October 23 to 26, 2026, Boao in Hainan Province hosted the 2026 International Exchange on Women and Children's Health. The event drew more than 170 government officials, international organization representatives, and health sector experts, primarily from Asia and Africa, to address regional health disparities.

The discussions centered on the role of digital intelligence in improving healthcare delivery and aligning outcomes with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Participants explored strategies for enhancing South-South cooperation, with a focus on sharing Chinese clinical practices and technologies with developing nations.

Xu Zongyu, director of the National Center for Women and Children's Health, noted that China plans to launch joint training programs and collaborative maternal health projects for ASEAN and African partners. The conference also featured an exhibition of medical technologies and concluded with a call for sustained investment in health services to improve outcomes for mothers and children.
