Global mayors convene in Ningbo to discuss urban development strategies
International city leaders gathered in Ningbo, China, for the Global Mayors Dialogue 2026 to address urban growth, international cooperation, and economic exchange.
Mayors from various countries met in Ningbo, China, on Tuesday for the Global Mayors Dialogue 2026. The event served as a platform for city leaders to discuss strategies for high-quality urban development and to explore potential avenues for future cooperation.
Ningbo, which maintains trade and investment ties with over 220 countries and regions, positioned itself as an active participant in global connectivity through its involvement in the Belt and Road initiative. During the dialogue, Ningbo officials outlined plans to foster an open business environment and enhance an innovation-driven ecosystem through partnerships with foreign entities.
Participants, including representatives from Auckland, Errachidia, and Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, identified shared interests in industrial growth, tourism, and technological transformation. The event concluded with the signing of 14 projects across trade, education, and cultural sectors, alongside a "Ningbo Consensus" document aimed at deepening industrial coordination and connectivity between the participating cities.
