Luoyang, Henan Province, China – The 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue commenced in Luoyang on October 11. More than one hundred guests, including mayors and representatives from 25 cities across 10 countries such as China, the UK, Italy, Argentina, and Algeria, along with international organizations, experts, and diplomats, gathered to discuss new models for civilized urban development that integrate ancient heritage with modern progress.

At the opening ceremony, Luoyang Mayor Zhang Yujie engaged in discussions with delegates from Algeria, Mogilev (Belarus), Sesto San Giovanni (Italy), County Durham (UK), and Attica (Greece). Representatives from participating cities also jointly witnessed the release of the "Luoyang Consensus on Urban Civilization."

Parallel events, including promotional exchanges and intangible cultural heritage showcases, were organized alongside the dialogue. During these, Luoyang and international city representatives held in-depth discussions on establishing sister city partnerships, industrial cooperation, and cultural and tourism exchanges, aiming to translate dialogue outcomes into concrete collaborative actions.

Luoyang presented its strategies for protecting key archaeological sites, renovating the urban fabric of the ancient capital, promoting high-quality manufacturing development, and advancing high-level opening-up. These practical experiences provided global mayors with clear, replicable examples of urban governance.
