Global tablet shipments drop 23 percent in third quarter
Global tablet shipments fell to 32 million units in the third quarter of 2026, marking a three-year low for the sector.
Global tablet shipments declined by 23 percent during the third quarter of 2026, totaling 32 million units, according to data from Omdia. This figure represents the lowest quarterly volume in three years, with particularly sharp contractions observed in China, the Middle East, and Western Europe.
Omdia research manager Himani Mukka noted that tablets have become a lower strategic priority for manufacturers entering 2026 and 2027. Amid intensifying supply constraints, industry experts do not anticipate a significant market recovery before 2028.
While most manufacturers struggled with the downturn, Lenovo recorded an increase in market share. Overall industry prospects remain cautious as supply chain limitations are expected to persist throughout the coming year.
