GM Updates Truck Software for Improved CarPlay Integration

General Motors is refining the software experience in its bestselling trucks to minimize driver distraction from excessive tapping and swiping. The company announced an update that enhances integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside new graphics for driver-assist systems.

The next-generation interface will debut on the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 later this year. Owners will experience changes including updated visuals for advanced driver-assist features and animated transitions, aiming for a more streamlined user experience.

A notable aspect of the update is the addition of picture-in-picture displays for CarPlay and Android Auto. This marks a shift from GM's previously expressed reservations about phone mirroring in its electric vehicle lineup.

The revised interface focuses on making the most frequently used controls more accessible, improving safety and convenience for drivers. The graphical enhancements extend to the vehicle's advanced driver-assistance systems.
