God of War: Laufey Set for February 16, 2027 Release on PS5

Sony PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio have revealed the release date for their new title, God of War: Laufey. The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.

The game was first officially revealed in June during a Sony State of Play presentation. God of War: Laufey puts players in the role of Laufey, Kratos's wife and Atreus's mother, who awakens in the afterlife, a realm known as "Everywhen." She discovers that her past efforts to protect her husband and son are under threat.

The narrative picks up following the events of the 2018 God of War game, which opened with Laufey's funeral. In this new installment, players will navigate Laufey's journey as she fights through a world populated by deities from various mythologies to safeguard her loved ones. The game is also confirmed to receive a physical disc version.

Cory Barlog, Creative Director at Santa Monica Studio, confirmed during a panel that the team is planning another series installment with Kratos as the protagonist following God of War: Laufey. The story of this subsequent game will directly follow the events of God of War: Laufey, serving as both a continuation and an expansion of the series' future.
