GoKwik Lays Off Around 120 Employees Amid AI Push

E-commerce enablement company GoKwik has reduced its workforce by an estimated 100 to 120 employees in recent weeks. Sources indicate that while the restructuring impacted various departments, customer onboarding, implementation, and tech teams were among the most affected.

The layoffs are reportedly a strategic move tied to the startup's increased focus on artificial intelligence and automation of its operations. The company has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Founded in 2020, GoKwik provides software tools designed to help online businesses improve checkout processes, reduce order returns, automate customer engagement, and boost sales. The company secured $13 million in funding last year, intended for enhancing its suite of integrated solutions for e-commerce brands.

GoKwik has previously expanded its offerings through acquisitions, including Return Prime and Tellephant. The trend of AI-driven restructuring and subsequent workforce reductions is becoming more prevalent among Indian startups, with several other companies recently undertaking similar measures for efficiency and automation.
