Gold Coast Health Plan Awards Over $2 Million in Grants to Support Medi-Cal Members

Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP) has distributed $2,087,811 in grants to seven healthcare providers and community organizations. The funding is intended to help Medi-Cal members navigate upcoming changes to eligibility and renewal requirements set to take effect in 2027.

The grants, part of the RISE (Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability & Equity) Grant Program, aim to enhance access to physical and behavioral health services. The initiative seeks to ensure members understand and comply with new Medicaid requirements, thereby minimizing disruptions in care.

Recipients include Community Memorial Health System, Conejo Health, Westminster Free Clinic, Many Mansions, Mixteco Indígena Community Organizing Project, Ventura County Health Care Agency, and Ventura County Public Health Department. The funded projects focus on maintaining coverage, facilitating re-enrollment, and connecting members with necessary resources and activities.

Dr. Felix Nuñez, GCHP's Chief Executive Officer, stated the program equips organizations with resources to support members through the changes. Erik Cho, GCHP's Chief of Staff and Strategy, added that these partnerships create a support network to prevent coverage loss due to lack of information.
