GomSpace Joins ESA Study for Arctic Satellite Constellation
GomSpace has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) to participate in a six-month study assessing the foundation for a future satellite constellation aimed at secure maritime communication in the Arctic.
GomSpace is among four entities selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) for a six-month study to evaluate the groundwork for a satellite constellation designed to provide secure and reliable digital communication for vessels operating in the Arctic.
The study has a total value of DKK 3.8 million, with DKK 1 million allocated to GomSpace. The consortium also includes Sternula, London Economics Denmark, and PIRC, a Canadian Arctic-focused consultancy.
Increasing commercial activity and geopolitical attention in the Arctic are driving the demand for resilient digital infrastructure. This study will define user needs, system concepts, and technical requirements for the envisioned satellite network.
Participation in this project positions GomSpace to contribute its expertise in small satellite technology to a critical infrastructure initiative in a challenging and strategically important region.
