Good Greek Moving & Storage Meets White House, Congress on Veteran Jobs, Military Relocations
Good Greek Moving & Storage executives met with White House and congressional leaders in Washington to discuss veteran employment, military relocations, and consumer protection measures for the moving industry.
Executives from Good Greek Moving & Storage traveled to Washington D.C. for the American Trucking Associations' Moving & Storage Conference Call on Washington. During the event, company leaders met with White House and congressional officials to discuss key industry issues, including veteran employment initiatives, the logistics of military relocations, and enhancing consumer protections.
The conference, held from September 15-17, brought together industry leaders for policy discussions and meetings with federal officials and members of Congress. Good Greek served as a sponsor for the event. Spero Georgedakis, founder and CEO, was joined by Chief of Staff Anthony Johnson and Director of Business Development John Rourke for the Washington meetings.
Company representatives, including Johnson and Rourke who are U.S. Army veterans, shared firsthand perspectives on veteran employment and the specific relocation needs of service members and their families. Discussions included the "Freedom Haulers" initiative, a federal program aimed at connecting veterans with careers in the trucking and moving sectors, facilitated by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Georgedakis, who also sits on the ATA's Moving & Storage Conference Executive Committee, highlighted the valuable leadership and discipline veterans bring to the industry. Good Greek also presented its strategy for improving military relocation services, emphasizing accountability and transparency for service members. In a separate meeting with Senator Ashley Moody of Florida, the company addressed concerns regarding fraudulent movers and the need for stronger consumer safeguards within the industry.
