Google adds interactive Zelda feature to search engine
Google has launched a temporary interactive feature within its search engine to mark the upcoming re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
In anticipation of the November 5 re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Google has integrated an interactive element into its search engine. Users who search for the term "zelda" are presented with a graphical representation of the Master Sword from the classic Nintendo 64 title.
Clicking on the sword triggers an animation that shifts the Google search results page to mimic the aesthetic of the internet in 1998, the year the original game debuted. This retro interface excludes modern features like AI-driven snippets, focusing instead on the minimalist text-based design prevalent during the late 1990s.
This initiative continues Google’s practice of embedding pop-culture references into its products. Similar features, such as screen rotations for "do a barrel roll" or coin-sound effects for "super mario bros," remain accessible on the platform as long-standing digital artifacts.
