Google Chrome updates autofill to extract data from Gmail
Google has expanded its Chrome browser's autofill functionality to automatically retrieve information from user Gmail accounts for form completion.

Google has updated its Chrome browser to include an enhanced autofill feature that pulls data directly from a user's Gmail account. The integration allows the browser to surface information such as flight booking numbers, hotel reservations, and shipment tracking details when users interact with online forms.
The feature utilizes the company's Gemini AI model to parse incoming emails and extract relevant data points. Previously, Chrome’s autofill was limited to static information stored in Google Accounts, such as physical addresses, passport numbers, and payment details saved in Google Wallet.
This update aims to reduce the manual process of searching through personal inboxes for confirmation codes or transaction history during online checkouts. While the move streamlines user workflows, it also represents an increase in the browser's ability to access personal communications to populate external web interfaces.
The rollout marks the latest iteration in Google's efforts to centralize its generative AI capabilities across its product suite. Users can expect the feature to appear in Chrome as the update is deployed globally.
