Google Cloud Customers Increase Spending
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told CNBC that existing customers are spending approximately 50% more than their initial commitments. This contributed to the segment's strong growth.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated that the company's existing customers are spending approximately 50% more than they initially committed to. This increased spending significantly contributed to the cloud segment's robust growth during the second quarter.
"Our existing customers have increased their spend when they make a commitment to us," Kurian told CNBC in an interview. "They are spending roughly 50% more than the commitment, and this is driven by the differentiation in our product portfolio and the strength in our go-to-market execution. You see that in both top-line and operating income growth."
Google Cloud has experienced rapid expansion, with its revenue increasing by 82% year-over-year. This performance surpassed expectations and strengthens Alphabet's position in the competitive cloud market against major players like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
While the company is increasing its investments in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, Kurian's remarks highlight the importance of deepening relationships with existing customers and increasing their usage as a key driver for continued expansion in the cloud sector.
