Google Cloud Launches Gemini Agent for Enterprise

Google Cloud has launched Gemini Agent, a new AI tool aimed at enterprise clients. Positioned as a "general work agent," the product integrates Gemini Enterprise, Workspace, and third-party services. It is designed to automate tasks by allowing users to simply state their objectives, which the agent then fulfills.

The Gemini Agent is capable of answering questions, handling knowledge-based work, creating media content, and writing code. For instance, if a manager requests a project progress presentation via email, Workspace Intelligence can identify the task as AI-executable and delegate it to Gemini Agent with a single click.

Beyond acting as a personal assistant, Gemini Agent can function as a "team member," taking on roles such as project manager or financial analyst within a team. Initially, it supports Gemini and Claude models, with future compatibility planned for various closed and open-source models. Google will provide APIs for developers to integrate Gemini Agent into their applications.

Gemini Agent is currently in private preview. It is expected to become widely available to eligible Workspace customers soon, supporting select Business and Enterprise plans.
